Cara Moorcroft
Classical Pilates Teacher
I am a classically trained teacher and life long student of the Pilates Method. I graduated from The Pilates Center’s Advanced Teacher Training program in 2016, studying under Erika Linton and Suzanne Staehr at The Pilates Workshop in San Francisco. I also completed the Kathy Grant Heritage Training in 2019 with Cara Reeser. In 2017, I opened a small private studio in Marin County, California, where I taught until I relocated to New York in 2021. I currently teach Pilates at multiple studios in Brooklyn and at my new studio in Shelter Island, NY.
Physical fitness has always been a part of my life; I was a competitive swimmer in high school and college. As an adult I remained passionate about physical fitness and found I was happiest when moving. After having children, I began to feel the effects that childbirth and a sports-filled youth can have on an adult body. That’s when I found Pilates. I was amazed at the Method’s unique ability to challenge and strengthen my whole body. Instead of aggravating old injuries, my Pilates practice healed them. I decided that the only thing better than finding my own physical fitness through Pilates was to teach others to do the same.
I remain amazed and inspired every day by the genius of Joseph Pilates and the benefits of the method he created. I’m honored to work with clients of all levels to help them find optimal health, meet their fitness goals and ultimately, achieve happiness through physical fitness.
teaching style
I love teaching Pilates! I am enthusiastic about the Method and get really excited when my clients start to see its’ benefits. I take the job of helping them reach their goals very seriously. I am honest, encouraging and positive and have a sense of humor about things. I feel strongly that my clients understand that I may know Pilates, but they are experts of their bodies- it’s a team effort!
My favorite thing about teaching Pilates is the transformation that can happen in just one session. In an hour, clients will:
Affect the quality of their breath
Improve circulation
Shed unnecessary tension
Energize their muscles
Lubricate their joints
Gain awareness of their body in space and in relation to the world around them
Deepen their mind +body connection
Achieve an overall sense of balance
